Ground Shots 1 1/2 "Captured"

Ground Shots 1 1/2 "Captured" is a zine.

This Ground Shots mini zine is a standalone. It features a historical story in poem form about imprisonment and paradox.

It is a historical story in poem form about the paradox of our current political, social and cultural state of things. It tells the story in a sideways manner of my grandpa being captured in WW2 while 'fighting Nazis' and put in a German Prison of War camp. It explores themes around being on either side of a gate, fence or barbed wire. It also explores the idea that history repeats itself, by noting that the same people who celebrate my grandpa as a hero because he survived and escaped the camp, are some of the same people who are pro-Trump and all of what Trump stands for. Fences, walls, containment, artificial borders and how they include or un-include folks, or keep us from seeing what else is out there can have a lot of power. This is an ongoing idea I am exploring, and this zine was a specific story for exploring that idea.

Note: This zine contains some writing that may be triggering for some folks. Mostly words relating to what it would be like to be in a prison camp. Proceed with sensitivity and tea.
