(limited class size due to size of indoor kitchen space)
In this two day class, we will work at the Ground Shots Herbs apothecary studio in Paonia, Colorado learning a multitude of medicine making techniques in a full kitchen. This class is focused on ways we can preserve herbs in medicine topically and internally, and is a beginner introduction to starting an apothecary at home.
We will run class from 8:30 AM-5:30 PM each day, with a break for lunch, where you are welcome to use the kitchen if you need to prepare your food. Bring a potluck dish if you’d like to share lunch.
We will utilize herbs from the North Fork Valley in our time together learning to make medicine in the kitchen.
We will cover the basics of:
salve making : beeswax based salves, alternative topicals with tallow and lanolin
infused oils
honey based medicines: oxymels, elixirs & meads
water based infusions and decoctions & we will drink different teas throughout the day

You’ll get to take home some of these medicines after we make them together!
